You Need to See How Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Wished Prince George a Happy 6th Birthday

In case you’re unaware (who are we kidding?), a certain mini royal celebrates his sixth birthday today—Prince George! To mark the occasion, Kensington Palace released a series of three photographs over the weekend captured by his mom, the Duchess of Cambridge. The pics are so charming and adorably Prince George that they caught the attention of two other favorite royals—Meghan Markle and Prince Harry—and you need to see how they wished the prince a happy birthday.

In the photo series released by the palace, there are two pictures of Prince George wearing an England national team soccer jersey and playing in the family’s garden at their literally palatial full-time residence at Kensington. There’s one other of Prince George on vacation rocking windswept hair and a little polo at what appears to be a camp site. That’s the picture the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opted to comment on. (Guess they’re not soccer fans.)

“Happy Birthday! Wishing you a very special day and lots of love!”

the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote using their IG handle @sussexroyals. They even threw in birthday cake and balloon emojis for good measure (aka further proof that Markle is the one running their Instagram account).

This isn’t the first time the duke and duchess have shared well-wishes on another royal’s birthday. They also left sweet notes for Prince William, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on their special days. Unfortunately, they didn’t yet have a joint social media account in January when the Duchess of Cambridge celebrated her 37th birthday.

Hey, there’s always next year. For now, we’ll just be enjoying these new portraits of George and his missing teeth.

Happy birthday Prince George!

Prince George, the future King of England, is seen laughing and smiling in new photos released to commemorate his sixth birthday.

Three photos were released Sunday by Kensington Palace, all taken by George's mom, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Two of the photos were taken recently in the garden of the Cambridges' home in Kensington Palace, and the other was taken while the family was on vacation, according to officials.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Neighbors Were Given an INSANE List of Demands About How to Behave Around Them

http://s5.uploads.ru/t/bpgrA.jpg

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Windsor neighbors were given a lecture about how to behave around the royal couple.
They're not supposed to talk to the couple, ask to see Archie, pet their dogs, or offer to babysit.

People really don't want to just let the royals live (see: someone getting upset about Prince George's shirt), cause now there's a slightly confusing and somewhat outrageous report coming out of the royal's Windsor estate, which is home to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Frogmore Cottage.

Daily Mail reports that at a residents' meeting, Meghan and Harry's neighbors were given a detailed list of the things that they can and cannot do should they run into the royal couple. The list included that they shouldn't approach the royal couple or try to start a conversation with them (though they can say "good morning" if Harry or Meg spoke to them), that they shouldn't pet their dogs even if the dogs come over, that they shouldn't ask to see baby Archie, and that they shouldn't offer to dog walk or babysit. And I think we can all agree that the no dog petting rule is pretty extreme, right?

What makes this even weirder is that the residents who live close to Frogmore Cottage/on the Windsor estate include royal staff, estate employees, and "officials living in grace-and-favor houses"—in other words, people who probably already know how to interact with royals. And apparently, the Queen doesn't even have a list of demands like this! According to one neighbor, "It's extraordinary. We've never heard anything like it. Everyone who lives on the estate works for the royals and knows how to behave respectfully. We aren't told how to behave around the Queen like this. She's very happy for people to greet her."

But before you get too worked up about the no dog petting policy, know that it apparently wasn't Meg and Harry who gave these demands! A spokesman for Buckingham Palace said, “The Duke and Duchess had no knowledge of this briefing and no involvement in the concept or the content. This was a well-intentioned briefing to help a small local community know how to welcome two new residents and help them with any potential encounter. There was no handout or letter. The talk was undertaken by a local manager and was widely viewed as being well received."

Uh, sure. I'm just feeling glad that I don't live in Windsor!

Meghan Markle's 38th Birthday Plans Are Not What We Expect from a Royal

SheKnows Kristen Lopez,SheKnows

http://s3.uploads.ru/t/rmG18.jpg
Birthdays are a special occasion for everyone, but how do you celebrate when you’re a new mom and also a member of the royal family? Meghan Markle’s 38th birthday plans include Prince Harry and Archie, and it sounds mellow and fabulous. According to a source for HollywoodLife, the Duchess of Sussex is so focused on her 2-month-old son that she really isn’t focused on her upcoming birthday. (Markle turns 38 on August 4.)  “Meghan’s world is pretty much just Archie. She’s so in love with being a mom, her mind’s on her baby boy, not her birthday,” the source said.

The source went on to explain that Markle, when she’s not constantly texting with Kate Middleton, will likely have a small gathering with friends and family, rather than the big blowout one would expect from a royal. “She prefers to use her day more introspectively. She’d much rather have a low-key dinner with her loved ones over a big blowout party,” the source said. If there’s a kids table at Markle’s birthday part, there’s no doubt that the bash will likely include Archie’s cousins, Princess Charlotte, Prince George and Prince Louis.

Unlike Queen Elizabeth II, whose Trooping the Colour each year is like her version of a birthday party, it’s unlikely Markle will do anything similar. “The rest of the family doesn’t traditionally have any sort of pageantry or public celebration, so there’s certainly nothing like that in the works for Meghan,” the source said.

And when it comes to presents, Markle doesn’t have much of a wish list. The source went on to say, “Harry is always very thoughtful so I’m sure he has some special things planned for her, but there’s nothing Meghan’s asked for. She’s very clear that she’s already got the best gift she could ever get – her little dream baby Archie.”

The couple has received near rampant criticism this year, from the way they celebrated Prince George’s birthday to what Meghan wore to Wimbledon, so it’s not surprising they’d prefer to spend her birthday quietly — similar to Archie’s recent private christening. We’re sure they’ll get flack for this too (like everything they do, le sigh), but it’s Meghan’s birthday, and she should be allowed to celebrate it how she wants!

Why Princess Beatrice Can't Wear a Tiara, but Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Can

A tiara isn’t exactly an everyday accessory — even when your name is preceded by a title like “Princess,” “Duchess,” or “Queen.”

Though the royals of our Disney-inspired fantasies slap on a diamond-encrusted topper first thing every morning, in reality, the piece is reserved only for very special occasions. In Kate Middleton’s eight years as the Duchess of Cambridge, she’s donned a tiara fewer than a dozen times (in public, that is — she probably brushes her teeth in one daily). The most notable tiara moment for Middleton was of course at her 2011 royal wedding, upon which she wore the Cartier Halo Scroll tiara (an 18th birthday present to Queen Elizabeth from her father, King George VI).

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, most famously wore her first tiara not too long ago: at her May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. She opted for the Queen Mary Diamond Bateau, which was passed down to Queen Elizabeth from Queen Mary in 1953.

But as for Princesses Beatrice, who, like her sister, was born into royalty as opposed to marrying into the family as Kate and Meghan did, it is not customary to wear a tiara (flamboyant hats are fine, though). The reason? Tiaras are traditionally reserved for married members of the British royal family. Eugenie wore her first tiara to her October 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank, and Beatrice will likely wear her first during her upcoming wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Though this is the traditional approach, there have been exceptions to the rule throughout history. Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter, Princess Anne, wore one at the state opening of Parliament years before she wed her first husband, Mark Phillips.

The Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret, also donned the accessory ahead of her marriage to Antony Armstrong-Jones — in fact, she wore one often.

The Queen might not attend Princess Beatrice's wedding

Cosmo Catriona Harvey-Jenner,Cosmo

http://s8.uploads.ru/t/cJzrE.jpg
It was all celebrations for the royal family last week, as Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The couple, who went public with their relationship last December, got engaged on holiday in Positano, Italy, and will be marrying next year, in 2020.

But while the ceremony is sure to have a high profile guest list of many royal faces, reports are already surfacing that one very important person may not attend: Beatrice's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, it all depends on where Beatrice has her wedding. Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I think in her heart Beatrice would like to be married in Italy where Edo’s from, but there’s no way the Queen will fly to Europe for the wedding so it will have to be in England."

The wedding will have to be in England... if having her grandmother there is a top priority for Princess Beatrice. But who knows; after attending Misha Nonoo's wedding two weeks ago in Rome, perhaps the royal and her Italian fiancé will be inspired to have their own wedding on the continent. At ninth in line to the throne, it's not as if Beatrice is required to have the same kind of formalities as more senior royals when it comes to her wedding.

The venue of Princess Beatrice's nuptials is yet to be confirmed by the royal family (I mean, she's only been engaged a couple of weeks) but the alternative to Italy is - in true royal fashion - St George's Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle. It's where her sister, Princess Eugenie, married Jack Brooksbank last autumn, and also where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed in May 2018.

http://s5.uploads.ru/t/aPObB.jpg
As for when Beatrice and Edoardo will get married, the royal expert predicts it'll be a short engagement. "I think a wedding as early as next spring or summer is likely." Seward, who's editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, said.

And her prediction is in keeping with the bookies' odds; according to bookmakers.tv, which aggregates betting odds, Beatrice and Edoardo are most likely to marry in May 2020. If that's not the case, the 2020 royal wedding is predicted to fall in either April or August next year.

Could Princess Beatrice's Royal Title Change After She's Married?
Harper's Bazaar Kayleigh Roberts,Harper's Bazaar

http://s9.uploads.ru/t/ybh0p.jpg
Most of the royal-watching world may focus intently on the queen, the Fab Four (Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle), and their children, but the British royal family is much more expansive than that. Among the most talked-about relatives are Prince Andrew's daughters are Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, two of William and Harry's first cousins.

The royal sisters have frequented headlines lately, especially because of their respective engagement and wedding news. Most recently, Beatrice announced her plans to marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, with a wedding set for 2020. Before the two say "I do" next year, here's what you need to know about the bride-to-be's royal title, what it means, and how it might change when she gets married.
What is Princess Beatrice's official royal title?

Beatrice's official royal title is Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice of York. This is because her father, Prince Andrew, is also the Duke of York.

Her middle names are Elizabeth Mary, making her full name Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York, which appears on her birth certificate.

http://s5.uploads.ru/t/YW9tF.jpg
Why is she a princess?

A Letters Patent issued by King George V in 1917 states that the sovereign's grandchildren can have "prince" or "princess" royal titles. Beatrice and Eugenie both qualify because they're granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II (as daughters of Prince Andrew, the queen's son).

Not all of the queen's grandchildren have royal titles. For example, Beatrice and Eugenie's cousin, Zara Tindall—who is also the queen's granddaughter and Princess Anne's daughter—doesn't have one. Apparently, the sovereign offered to give Anne's children the honor, but Anne declined.

http://s3.uploads.ru/t/Y7NhI.jpg
The queen can also step in to bestow titles on descendants who weren't covered by the Letters Patent. Before Princess Charlotte was born, the queen officially decreed that all of Prince William's children would automatically receive the prince or princess title, even though the royal tradition previously stated that only his oldest son (George) would be entitled to the honor. While Harry and Meghan's son, Archie, wasn't automatically entitled to the prince title, it's possible that, if his parents wanted him to have it, Her Majesty would have honored the request.

It's also worth noting that the position of the "princess" title has meaning, royal historian Marlene Koenig previously told Insider. A princess is styled by her own name if she's born royal (such as Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne, and Princess Charlotte), while a princess-by-marriage will, in official use, keep the title after her first name (like Diana, Princess of Wales), per Insider.
Will Princess Beatrice's royal title change when she gets married?

When Beatrice marries her fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, her title may change a bit. After her sister, Eugenie, got married to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018, the styling of her name changed from "Princess Eugenie of York" to "Princess Eugenie, Mrs. Jack Brooksbank," in the court circular, the official record of royal engagements.

If Beatrice follows suit, her name could be styled as "Princess Beatrice, Mrs. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi" after her wedding. However, she has some time decide on that.

Queen Elizabeth II Reportedly 'Impressed' With Meghan Markle, So Does She Support the Lawsuit?

Though Meghan Markle has her critics, there’s one (rather important) person who always seems to be on her side: Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen is “impressed” with Meghan of late, a source reveals, and tracked the Sussex royals’ tour of Africa with great pleasure. Since Prince Harry announced a lawsuit against Associated Newspapers just this week, Meghan must be relieved to know she’s still supported — and we’re wondering whether her statement signals that the palace approves of their legal move.

According to Us Weekly’s source, the Queen was thrilled with how the Africa tour went. “She’s seeing a more mature, responsible side of Harry, and she’s really impressed with how Meghan’s upped her game,” the source reveals. Both Meghan and Harry have truly seemed in their element, focusing on their charitable efforts in the area and bonding with local communities. “This is the real Meghan,” the source asserts. “It’s not an act. And while she’ll never replace Diana, she’s determined to follow in her footsteps.”

Speaking of Diana: She may be the key to the reason the Queen would support the Sussex’s lawsuit. Harry himself referenced his mother in the statement announcing their legal action, comparing the media’s treatment of Diana back then to the way they’re treating Meghan now. And according to royal commentator Duncan Larcombe, the Queen is likely to agree with that assessment. In August, he described the monarch’s “particular and slightly unusual effort to welcome [Meghan] in,” and posited that it may have been “because of the lessons of the past where Princess Diana pretty much felt like an outsider.”

In other words, the parallels between Meghan and Diana seem clear to both Harry and the Queen, and both are working hard to support her because of it.

The King of Sweden Removes Royal Titles from His Five Grandchildren

http://sd.uploads.ru/t/dXyLh.jpg

The Swedish palace has announced that the children of Princess Madeleine and royal zaddy Prince Carl Philip no longer have royal titles.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's five grandchildren were previously known as princes and princesses.
The move mirrors the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's decision to raise baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor without a royal title.

Big changes are afoot in Sweden with the announcement that King Carl XVI Gustaf's grandchildren no longer have royal titles.

People reported that "While they will remain members of the royal family, they have lost their official HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles." This means that the children of Princess Madeleine and her husband, Christopher O’Neill, and the children of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, will no longer be required to perform royal duties, nor will they be referred to as princes or princesses. Basically, it's the end of an era.

Per an official palace statement, "His Majesty The King has decided on changes to The Royal House." It continued, "His Majesty The King has decided that the children of Their Royal Highnesses Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, and the children of Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O’Neill will no longer be members of The Royal House."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Might Move to Canada With Baby Archie, According to a New Report

From Cosmopolitan

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are apparently considering a move to Canada following Harry's lawsuit against the British press.

This report comes just a day after a royal reporter named Richard Palmer claimed that Harry and Meghan have zero support from the royal family.

In case you haven't noticed, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing a lot of hostility from the British press and public right now. After finally moving past the controversy that came from their private jet usage, Harry and Meghan began their tour of Africa, and for the most part, it was well received! But just as Meghan and Harry were finishing up their tour, Harry dropped a very public letter that is allegedly causing problems.
http://s7.uploads.ru/t/57keM.jpg
Harry released a statement announcing that he will be taking legal action against Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Daily Mirror and The Sun's publishers. While it seemed like a power move to protect Meghan against bullying in the tabloids, it may have backfired because Harry allegedly did not consult a single person with royal duties about his plan.

Now, relationships between Harry and the people in the royal cabinet are reportedly suffering as a result. In fact, things have become so bad that a new source says Meghan and Harry are considering moving overseas—to Canada, to be exact. “Meghan and Harry have considered moving to Canada, as it’s part of the Commonwealth,” a source told Us Weekly. Relocation is technically an option, and “Meghan and Harry are considering it for the future,” the source added.

This report comes after Daily Express royal correspondent Richard Palmer claimed that Meghan and Harry have no support from their royal relatives or house attendants. “Nobody in the Royal Family or the Royal Household is supporting Harry and Meghan at the moment,” Richard tweeted. “Even the couple’s aides seem embarrassed by their actions. William, who dropped his brother like a ton of hot bricks earlier this year, and Charles have distanced themselves.”

The one item the Queen never travels without

From Cosmopolitan

A new documentary revealed what's on the Queen's Royal rider, so you know what to bring her next time you invite her on holiday.
Considering we're all quite obsessed with The Royal Family, it's hardly surprising their travel habits have caught our attention. Whether it's why Kate Middleton books two seats when she flies on budget airlines, or how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry snuck onto a commercial plane without anyone even realising, there's a real appetite for knowing about their holidays.

When it comes to the Queen, there's one item she won't travel without. In a new Channel 5 documentary, Secrets Of The Royal Flight, Royal Correspondent Emily Andrews touched on what it's like on the Queen's royal plane, and what the Queen puts on her rider (side note: no, she didn't call it a rider).

http://s9.uploads.ru/t/D1yRZ.jpg
"She loves afternoon tea, it’s her favourite meal and she only drinks earl grey," Emily said. "So if you were the chef on board the Royal Plane you would definitely make sure that you had an entire supply of earl grey. Not just for the plane journey but wherever you were going on tour on tour."

Speaking of what the Queen's favourite afternoon tea order is, Emily added: "She particularly likes egg and cress sandwiches cut in particular ways and for supper, she always liked to start with smoked salmon."

Interestingly, Former Royal Spokesperson Dickie Arbiter also said during the documentary that Elizabeth likes to travel with one specific type of water. "The only thing the Queen requests to have wherever she is is Malvern Water, he commented. "She likes Malvern water, it’s refreshing and they usually take lots of it with her."

Kate Middleton Went to Family Therapy to Support Her Brother, James

http://sd.uploads.ru/t/pkDvc.jpg

In a new interview with The Telegraph, James Middleton opened up about his struggles with depression and his personal road to recovery.
His entire family—including Kate Middleton—took part in family therapy sessions with him to show their support.

Kate Middleton's brother, James Middleton, is opening up his struggles with depression—and how his sister, the Duchess of Cambridge, dropped everything to help with his recovery.

In a new interview with The Telegraph, James described his personal battle with depression, which he, like many people, kept to himself for a long time. When James realized he needed help, however, he went to a private psychiatric hospital, where he voiced the fact that he was dealing with suicidal thoughts for the first time.

"I remember thinking, 'I might have to answer this one truthfully, because I want them to help me,'" he explained of confronting the doctor's questions about suicidal ideation. "So I said, 'Well, actually, yes, but I don’t think I’ll ever action it.' In my report it said I had suicidal thoughts but wasn’t a threat to myself."

Once James reached out and made a point to be honest about what he was going through, his journey to recovery (which included nearly a year of cognitive behavioral therapy) could begin.

"Before I started it I was completely lost," he said, describing therapy as like, "sitting in a chair with a ball of wool made up of eight different colors, and then a therapist is sitting opposite you with a needle untangling it. When we started mapping everything out, and it was on a page, it was absolute chaos."
Photo credit: Antony Jones - Getty Images

http://sg.uploads.ru/t/lofYB.jpg

James didn't have to tackle the recovery process alone though. His entire family—including his very famous (and very busy) sister, Kate—joined him in family therapy sessions to support him.

"All of them," he said, confirming that Kate took part in the therapy process with him. "Not necessarily at the same time, but either individually and [sometimes] together. And that was so important because that helped them understand me and how my mind was working. And I think the way the therapy helped me was that I didn’t need my family to say, 'What can we do?' The only thing they could do was just come to some of the therapy sessions to start to understand."

James Middleton Reveals He Attended Therapy Sessions with Sister Kate Middleton and Their Family

https://static.news.ru/photo/4a4e2904-ed11-11e9-9bf3-fa163e074e61_660.jpg
James Middleton is thankful for the support of his family.

Kate Middleton‘s younger brother, who recently announced his engagement to French financial analyst Alizee Thevenet, is continuing to open up about his battle with depression, and the role his family played in his recovery.

In an interview with The Telegraph, James, 32, said he “couldn’t do anything” before he began seeking treatment a little over a year ago.

“I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t read a book, I couldn’t watch a film, I couldn’t eat,” he recalled, noting that he also found it difficult to talk to his family.

“The fact is, no matter what experience someone has, your family members are the hardest people [to talk to]… You also have a very different way of interacting with your family than you do with your friends.” he said. “I’m the youngest child, so I think that’s normal. And they are so tuned into you that they can see what other people can’t.”

After visiting a private psychiatric hospital for a consultation, James spent almost a year in cognitive behavioral therapy, sometimes attending sessions with his family, including the Duchess of Cambridge.

“That was so important because that helped them understand me and how my mind was working. And I think the way the therapy helped me was that I didn’t need my family to say, ‘What can we do?’ The only thing they could do was just come to some of the therapy sessions to start to understand,” he explained.

While James went on to add that he’s “conscious that I have not got rid” of his depression, he’s “very pleased that I went through it, because of who I am on the other side.”

“It was a dark and miserable place to be, but the fact is there is hope at the end. It requires effort and energy, but the other side is… the grass can be greener than it was before,” he added. “For me, now, there’s a feeling that I can take on anything, in the nicest possible way. Not in a [combative] way. Because if I can talk about my mental health and the things I am passionate about and the way I truly feel… well then I’m not pretending to be anyone. This is who I am.”

In an op-ed for the Daily Mail published early this year, James first opened up about his battle with depression, recounting his darkest moments before seeking treatment a little over a year ago. He also credited his dogs with providing emotional support.

“I recognize, too, the role my dogs — Ella, Inca, Luna, Zulu and Mabel — have played in my recovery,” he wrote.

“Ella, particularly, has been my constant companion for ten years and she’s been with me to all my therapy sessions. In her own particular way, she has kept me going,” he continued. “As a result, Ella and I now volunteer with the Pets As Therapy charity and Ella is a fully-fledged therapy dog for PAT.”

James later revealed his reason for speaking out about his experience is to help change the stigma associated with mental illness.

In addition, James felt compelled to follow the lead of his sister Kate, brother-in-law Prince William and Prince Harry, who have been strong advocates for mental health.

“They believe we can only tackle the stigma associated with mental illness if we have the courage to change the national conversation, to expel its negative associations.”

Kate Middleton & Prince William Share A Sweet PDA Moment

http://s8.uploads.ru/t/XIRv1.jpg

Kate Middleton and Prince William had a joint appearance this week when they met with the Aga Khan ahead of their official visit to Pakistan.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to travel to Pakistan from October 14—18.
Duchess Kate was captured on camera sweetly touching William's arm during the engagement.

Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in unison earlier this week to meet with the Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims.

In just over a week, the duke and duchess will travel to Pakistan for a royal visit, and the couple's London meeting with the Aga Khan was a precursor to their official trip.

As usual, the royals looked adorable in one another's company, and The Mirror has since pointed out that Kate and William had a very rare moment of PDA during the event, and we almost all missed it.

In the footage, Kate can be seen touching Prince William's arm as he talks to a number of guests. The married couple are very rarely captured touching in public, so Duchess Kate's gesture is not only unusual to see, but exceedingly sweet, too.

By all accounts, Kate looked completely smitten throughout the engagement, and was photographed laughing at several of William's jokes.

She also gazed at her husband on a number of occasions, making it clear that the royals are still very much in love.

Hillary Clinton Hints At Racism In Media Mistreatment Of Meghan Markle

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called the media’s treatment of Meghan Markle “inexplicable.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the 2016 presidential nominee praised the Duchess of Sussex for being “gutsy,” days after she and husband Prince Harry filed a lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday’s parent company.

“I do want to say that the way she’s been treated is inexplicable,” Clinton told The Sunday Times, per Newsweek. “If the explanation is that she’s biracial, then shame on everybody.”

The royal couple took issue with the tabloid for publishing details of a private letter the duchess sent to her father, Thomas Markle. Harry said the outlet only published parts of the letter, given to the tabloid by the duchess’ dad, to “manipulate” readers. He also reprimanded the press for its “ruthless campaign” against his wife.

Chelsea Clinton, joining her mom to promote their book, “The Book of Gutsy Women,” praised Markle for refusing to be bullied.

“She proudly had a career first and has a voice that she thankfully continues to use,” Chelsea Clinton said. “Anyone who has the temerity to break the mold of what has previously been established and expected often, unfortunately, receives criticism and bile that I don’t understand. We’ve seen this pattern repeatedly.”

Hillary Clinton said previously that she’s “inspired” by the duchess’ initiatives on behalf of women.

Putin arrives in Saudi Arabia as Middle East kingmaker: 'Something is afoot'

The hosts spared little effort in preparing a welcome fit for another century.

Vladimir Putin — in Saudi Arabia for only the second time in his presidency — was greeted in Riyadh by an honour guard of Arabian horses and royal soldiers. He was transported to the present, by electric buggy, for a grand reception inside King Salman’s palace.

Monday’s state visit on the one hand underlined the maturing relations between two enfants terribles of international politics.

Ties between Russia and Saudi Arabia, ostensibly a strategic ally of the United States, have grown close following the 2018 OPEC+ oil agreement to manage oil prices by limiting output. Today, the signing of 30 contracts worth $2bn was the material result of the new level of co-operation.

But Mr Putin’s visit also had a wider significance, emphasising Russia’s expanded responsibilities in an increasingly unstable Middle East.

Moscow today finds itself at the centre of two major crises in the region.

First, the fall-out from the Turkish assault on Kurdish troops in northern Syria following and Donald Trump’s decision to pull out US troops and abandon one-time Kurdish allies. The chaotic and bloody clashes that followed forced a Kremlin-brokered deal between the Kurds and the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad. Syrian troops are now in control of several towns along the northern border previously controlled by Kurdish troops.

In a conference call with journalists, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the existence of a deal between Mr Assad and the Kurdish forces, but gave no details. He declined to offer clarity on whether the deal amounted to more than a surrender; or whether the Kurds would retain any control over any territory once Syrian forces establish themselves along the northern border.

A second tension spot follows September’s drone and cruise missile attacks on Saudi oil fields. Those attacks, which came just four weeks before Mr Putin’s visit, reduced oil production by half and left the region teetering on open conflict.

As far as Riyadh and most Western governments were concerned, only Iran could carry out such an attack. But Moscow has so far refused to criticise Teheran, a prominent ally in its Syrian campaign. In an interview given to several local TV channels on the eve of his Saudi visit, Vladimir Putin insisted he had “no information” about who conducted the attack.

“Until it is clear and understood who stands behind such attacks, it is not desirable to go around blaming the innocent,” he said. Mr Putin instead used the opportunity to offer Russian suface-to-air missile defence systems to the Saudis. That prospect, while not particularly realistic, is likely to cause unease in Washington, Riyadh's long-standing arms supplier.

Russia’s policy of talking to everyone is a major factor why it has emerged as a major player in the region. But it is also increasingly a cause of tension.

“Iran has long been a toxic issue for Saudi Arabia and Russia, ” says Yury Barmin, an expert at the Russian International Affairs Council. “Before, the countries agreed to ignore the issue, but that’s no longer possible since Iran’s behaviour is directly impacting Russian interests and the predictable oil production that lies at the heart of the OPEC+ agreement.”

Russia had few levers to influence over its ally, the expert adds. But it was also likely to offer Riyadh a deal to stop Iranian military expansion in northern Syria. The Saudis will also be encouraged by any guarantee to keep rivals Turkey in check, he said.

The chaotic clashes between Turkey and the Kurds in northern Syria have created obvious complications for Moscow. Russia had looked to disengage and hand over to the Syrian regime where possible; this development does anything but that. But more concerning is the emerging risk of a confrontation between Russia and Turkey, a NATO member.

In his daily conference, Mr Peskov described such a prospect as “unthinkable.” Moscow and Ankara remained in “close contact,” he said, complete with a hotline between the two militaries.

Later, Yury Ushakov, an aide to Vladimir Putin, told journalists that the Turkish operation and regional stability would be a “major topic of conversation” in discussions with Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

But that alone was unlikely to be the main reason for Vladimir Putin’s visit, said Mr Barmin.

“Something is afoot,” he added. “Putin never goes on state visits unless major things are happening. We just don’t yet know what it is.”

Kate Middleton wowed in Pakistan on Monday evening, when she and husband Prince William landed in Islamabad, stepping off the plane and onto the red carpet.

Kate stepped off the plane wearing a bespoke aqua-blue ombré dress and matching pants by Catherine Walker, one of the duchess' favorite designers. The look was a modern twist on the traditional shalwar kameez, which pairs a loose-fitting tunic with pants.

Diana wore a similar look during her solo visit to Pakistan in 1996. The iconic royal impressed with a light blue top and loose pants during a visit to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital in Lahore.

Kate had help choosing the head-turning ensemble. According to Vanity Fair, the tour marks the return of her personal assistant and stylist, Natasha Archer, who had been away on maternity leave after giving birth to her son, Theo, late last year.

Archer, who is known as Tash around the palace, has been tasked with pulling outfits for a range of engagements during the couple's tour, which will likely include at least one black-tie reception.

"Tash has spent hours combing through look books with Catherine ahead of the tour and compiling a really beautiful and practical tour wardrobe," a source told the magazine. "There are between one and three outfits planned for each day so that the duchess has options."

We have to say, Tash and Kate are off to a great start.

Duchess Kate dazzles in glitzy gown – but Prince William 'steals spotlight' in traditional Pakistani outfit

The Duchess of Cambridge has stepped out in a floor-length Jenny Packham gown during her five-day royal tour of Pakistan – but some are saying the Duke of Cambridge stole her “spotlight”.

Duchess Kate truly embodied the royal spirit in the head-to-toe sequinned, emerald green number.

She wore the outfit to attend a reception hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan in Islamabad.

On her feet, she wore what look like new Jimmy Choo Mimi 100 sandals. The shoes are still available to buy on the Jimmy Choo website for £575.

Her earrings are by jewellery designer Onitaa, sourced from Pakistan, according to royal correspondent Rebecca English.

Prince William, meanwhile, donned a traditional green sherwani – a type of coat-like garment which is custom to the region.

His outfit is believed to be by Naushemian, a label founded by Pakistani designer Nauman Arfeen – and many are joking on Twitter overshadowed his wife’s stand-out look, calling William’s look a “fashion statement”.

Russia buries cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, first human to walk in space

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Hundreds of Russians bade farewell to cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the first human to walk in space, at a solemn funeral ceremony on Tuesday which culminated in a gun salute.

The ceremony for Leonov, who died on Friday at the age of 85 after a long illness, was attended by Russia’s defence minister and prominent space exploration figures including 89-year-old former U.S. astronaut Thomas Stafford.

Though less well known internationally than Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, Leonov was a household name in his native Russia and will be remembered in particular for his role in the 1965 Voskhod-2 mission.

During that flight, one of two he made into space, Leonov became the first human to walk in space, an episode that lasted 12 minutes and 9 seconds.

A frail Stafford delivered a speech in Russian at the ceremony in Moscow’s suburbs, during which he called Leonov “my colleague and friend” and said “Alexei, we will never forget you”.

In 1975, Stafford was commander of an Apollo spacecraft that docked with a Soyuz spacecraft commanded by Leonov in what was the first link-up of American and Russian space vehicles.

After several speeches, hundreds of Russians queued up to pay their respects and lay flowers by Leonov’s cask.

Leonov was twice dubbed a “Hero of the Soviet Union” - one of the Russian state’s most prestigious awards - and has a small crater on the Moon named after him.
